Carlos Eduardo Farias, from Fortaleza, Brazil, is now teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at East West MMA, located on the corner of Power and McDowell roads.
Professor Carlos, as his students affectionately know him, brings more than 15 years experience in training and competing to East West MMA. Coach Carlos came to the United States from Fortaleza, where he studied Jiu-Jitsu under professors Guillherme Santos and Sazinho, top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu masters in Brazil.
Professor Carlos also sports a winning MMA professional record. He received his Jiu-Jitsu black belt from MMA veteran Roberto Spider Traven. Master Traven, a fifth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is the 1999 Abu Dhabi Absolute Champion and two-time World Jiu-Jitsu Champion. Under Traven’s instruction, Coach Carlos has earned multiple titles in Brazil and a variety of United States and World titles. These titles include:

In addition to competing, Carlos’ passion for teaching is unparalleled. The students of Professor Carlos range in age from 6 to 60. Through the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, he is dedicated to teaching the values of honor, humility and respect for all.
Along with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, East West MMA offers class for adults and children in karate, MMA, self-defense and fitness classes.
