When working with families, Melissa Cecil, founder and chief executive officer of Waypoint, is often asked why the name Waypoint, and the answer never gets old.
Waypoint is defined as, “An endpoint of the leg of a course, especially one with specific coordinates” (Collins English Dictionary). Generally speaking, finding a Waypoint is an ongoing process in life. Once we find one, we immediately are searching for another.
“In determining a name for our company, I couldn’t imagine a more suitable description for the vision I held—to provide a compassionate service, which would guide people through the storms life too often brings our way,” Melissa said.
Life-changing personal experiences, such as learning a young nephew may not survive a battle with a rare disease, and watching her husband struggle as his strong, independent father went through the stages of end of life, left Melissa seeking a Waypoint.
“Waypoint Senior Care and Consulting exists in order to provide solutions for families in crisis,” Melissa stated. “Our consulting services never are at any cost to families. Every family’s situation is different. Therefore, there is no cookie-cutter answer that’s right for everyone.”
Advisors meet individually with every family to provide education, resources and solutions to problems that once seemed overwhelming. “We aren’t doctors or lawyers,” Melissa explained. “We are people just like you who have experienced the feelings of fear and inadequacy, which come with the desire to care for someone you love, but not knowing where to begin. There is help. You are not alone.”
When faced with the reality Mom can no longer safely care for herself, or Dad can no longer safely care for himself, it can be overwhelming to find the very best solution. Weighing the options and costs for assistance at home or placement with trusted professionals is not only difficult, but also emotional.
Waypoint’s professional senior care advisors personally meet with family members to learn the physical health, social, financial and geographic needs, which must be considered. They then reach out to their vast resources to present the family with the very best options that meet all their needs. Families are spared the frustration of making endless phone calls, or visiting communities or homes, which are not at all what they have in mind.
What Waypoint does best is provide only the options and care that fit your specific needs and within your personal budget. Celeste Batuk and Barb Sacks, both residents of Madrid in the Mesa Uplands community for more than 10 years, are members of Waypoint’s sales team focused on the East Valley. They have helped many families in the Upland communities either find a caregiver, or locate the best assisted living residence or community for their loved ones.
Their networking and education in the senior health care community, as well as participation in industry organizations, help them stay informed about Arizona regulations. In addition, they have knowledge of available resources associated with financial aid and benefits for veterans.
