When I go into one of the big box office supply stores and watch people staring at the file folders, I’m so tempted to stick my nose in their business.
Not only are you asked to decide between folders with three or five tabs, but so many color choices can drive you crazy. I’ll make it simple. Straight-line filing is the most efficient and easiest to maintain. Straight line means there is one long tab all the way across the folder.
All the file labels should be put on the right side so your eye doesn’t have to jog back and forth across the files as you look for the desired folder. Adding a file using this system doesn’t require you to find another center tab or left tab file folder to fit into the original filing system.
