Self Development Academy (SDA) is excited to welcome Mrs. Patricia Graville to the middle school faculty this year.
Mrs. Graville has taught elementary, middle school and high school mathematics classes for the past nine years. Having been employed at Self Development Preschool as well, she is a familiar face among the students and greater school community. She completed a master’s degree in secondary education, and is a highly qualified mathematics teacher.
Mrs. Graville brings her mathematics expertise and experience to the middle school mathematics program. The curriculum at SDA is accelerated. Therefore, students have the opportunity to learn two to three years ahead of the Arizona State Department of Education Standards. The SDA mathematics curriculum is no exception, integrating state standards and the Cambridge International Examinations curriculum, as well.
Middle school mathematics courses include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. Mrs. Graville is mentoring several students to compete in the Math Counts program. Many SDA grade eight students have placed into higher level mathematics courses, such as Honors Algebra II and Geometry, as high school freshmen.
Students placing in these courses have the opportunity to obtain a higher grade point average in high school, making them highly competitive college applicants.
This curriculum and the dedication of teachers, like Mrs. Graville, prepare students not only for high school, but college and university placement, as well.
Self Development Academy offers an accelerated and well-rounded educational experience for kindergarten through grade eight students. If you are interested in learning more about SDA, please contact the front office at (480) 641-2640. SDA is located at 1709 N. Greenfield Road.
