Dare to visit Salt River Tubing’s Spooktacular Halloween event on Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy ghoulish, superhero and gypsy shuttle bus rides to the Lower Salt River. Tubers also can take advantage of numerous photo opportunities with the madcap Salt River Tubing employees in their incredible attire. Costumes are optional for floaters. However, Salt River Tubing will award $17 tube rental complimentary passes for best tuber costumes. Passes are valid on return visit.
Floaters can zip down the Salt River on the refreshing, 68-degree mountain-stream rocking rapids, while chilling and thrilling in the great outdoors.
The popular event draws thousands each year to the Lower Salt River in Tonto National Forest. Tubers enjoy a howling, ghoulish time, as awesome phantoms, frightful witches, scowling pumpkins and eerie voices echo throughout the day.
“Tubing on the Lower Salt River is the ideal way to beat the heat in July,” said President and Chief Executive Officer of Salt River Tubing Henri Breault. “Our zany, fun-filled crew is determined to put the wow in your Salt River adventure, and create a unique and memorable journey in the great outdoors,” he continued. “Don a mask, paint a face, and join us for the ride of your life on the chilling and thrilling Salt River rapids. High step it with our line dancers performing the Monster Mash.”
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service’s national program, More Kids in the Woods, was expressly designed to encourage efforts to get kids and teens outdoors, and explore ways to connect youth and nature. Salt River Tubing’s Spooktacular Halloween event is aligned with the USDA Forest Service’s commitment in meeting the challenge of reduced youth involvement in outdoor activities. The Halloween-themed event’s objective is to capture the attention of teenage youth, and encourage them to enjoy the great outdoors on the Lower Salt River in Tonto National Forest.
The cost of tube rental and shuttle bus service all day is $17 per person/tube, which includes sales tax.
Children must be 8 years old or older and at least 4 feet tall for tube rental and shuttle bus service. Children, non-swimmers and inexperienced swimmers should wear life vests.
Glass containers are prohibited by law in the Lower Salt River Recreational Area and will be confiscated. Ice chests and coolers will be inspected for glass containers before boarding shuttle buses. Have a great time on the Lower Salt River by responsibly appointing a designated driver before beginning your tubing adventure. Drugs, alcohol and the Salt River do not mix. Therefore, play it safe, and just don’t do it. Salt River Tubing operates in Tonto National Forest under permit of the USDA Forest Service.
Salt River Tubing is located in Northeast Mesa, just seven minutes from Highway 202 East, or 15 miles north of Highway 60, on Power Road.
