Did you know that people representing Medicare plans aren’t allowed to come to your home uninvited to sell or endorse anything?
They cannot call you unless you’re already a member of the plan. If you’re a member, the agent who helped you join can call you. Also, they cannot require you to speak to a sales agent to get information about the plan.
As I have mentioned, my husband is turning 65 in January of next year. He has received numerous telephone calls from people claiming to want to help him with Medicare.
As a licensed agent, I know the rules of contact and told him that it was illegal for anyone to call him without his permission. They acted like they were from Medicare. This was false and you should be aware that Medicare will not call you unless you have requested a phone appointment.
Please be aware that you should not be contacted by phone by an agent unless you have called first or filled out a permission-to-contact form. With the intense amount of marketing going on right now for Medicare, I thought it would be good to let you know what the rules of contact are.
If you have questions or are interested in having assistance with your Medicare choices, please call me for a consultation. I am a firm believer in having someone local come and sit with you and help you make the right choice.
