The many veterans who are members of the Red Mountain Ranch Social Club, as well as guests who are veterans, were honored and treated to a lunch in observance of Veterans Day.
Club Member Highlighted
Club member Bill Keller is a Purple Heart recipient. A Marine Corps Search and Rescue helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, he rescued downed pilots. In March 1966, Bill was diverted from recovering downed pilots to rescue Special Forces personnel fighting in the A Shau Valley, on the west side of Vietnam. Bill’s H-34 helicopter was shot down. Later, another pilot, also flying an H-34 helicopter, rescued Bill.
Bill said he had many jobs as an H-34 pilot. Those jobs included transporting troops into difficult locations, delivering supplies and executing medical evacuations.
Gifts For Our Veterans
Each of our veterans received a handcrafted card with a beautifully written poem by Don Coombs. In addition, a photograph was taken of our heroes. Everyone present enjoyed a tasty lunch and special time with our veterans.
Club Members Thank Our Veterans
All across America,
people debate politics,
speak their mind,
worship as they choose,
and raise their families,
enjoying the privileges of freedom
earned by courageous
veterans like you.
We are in your debt.
If you are a veteran,
you can stand with pride.
Every freedom-loving American
will be at your side.
Our social club has a lot of you in its
ranks.
And we would like to buy you lunch,
just to say thanks.
