What’s Crackin Café opened recently in Northeast Mesa, bringing a unique New Mexican flair to the dining scene, with menu items such as Chef Angel’s Pan Fried Tamale, Breakfast Tacos and Stacked Enchiladas.
Their traditional dishes already have made an impact on guests, too. With items as delicious as the Monte Cristo Breakfast Sandwich, Country Breakfast Bowl and Quinoa Bowl, the restaurant owners are putting the focus back on real food.
“After being in the restaurant industry for 20 years, I’ve gotten pretty upset seeing the trends with food and what these big restaurants are serving people,” said co-owner Craig Arstingstall. “It’s out of convenience.”
Now, the co-owners are applying their two decades of experience in the industry to create the most high-quality dishes possible.
“We wanted to go back to butter and heavy cream,” Craig said. “Keep it natural.”
That includes great ingredients, many of which are locally sourced.
“We want to be relaxed, and we want to bring people the best product we can for the cheapest price we can,” Craig said.
So far, guests are loving it, and the restaurant recently extended its hours to include dinner. Hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday; and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday through Wednesday.
“Good area, good people,” Craig stated. “Everybody’s been really receptive and showing a lot of love.”
What’s Crackin Café is also offering a happy hour menu, from noon to 6 p.m., with daily drink specials.
Heading into fall, restaurant goers can also look forward to more exciting changes, including a dog-friendly patio and new menu items.
