An exciting educational opportunity for adults is found with New Frontiers for Lifelong Learning.
Mesa Community College (MCC) sponsors this peer-led, self-directed organization of 450 members. Interactive study groups, facilitated by members, meet to learn about history, travels, art, music, spirituality, health, computers, photography, nature, book discussions and more. There are many social activities, such as luncheons, tours, plays, picnics, card and board games and more.
After paying $70 a year or $50 a semester, a person can take as many classes as time will permit. During the summer, classes meet at the Mesa Active Adult Center (MAAC), located at 247 N. Macdonald St. Classes meet at the MAAC, Red Mountain Active Adult Center, at 7550 E. Adobe Road; Mesa Community College, at the Southern and Dobson campus; the Red Mountain Campus, at Power and McKellips roads; and the Downtown Campus, at 145 N. Centennial Way, as well as at several other locations during the fall and spring semesters. A free MCC student ID card is issued after joining. The card can be used for discounts on the MCC campuses and in the community.
The next open house for registering for classes and activities will take place in the Navajo Room, in the Student Center of MCC at Southern Avenue and Dobson Road, on Friday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.
