Local Vocalist Features Her Talents at Wide Ranging Occasions

Mesa-based vocalist Brekyn Johnson has been singing her whole life, and now she’s sharing her talents with the world.

“My dad is in a band, so I’ve been singing my whole life,” she said. “I decided to turn it into a business when my friend asked me to sing at her wedding and I loved it.”

“I was like, ‘I want to keep doing this,’” Brekyn continued. “So, I did a couple more weddings, and now it’s a full business, which is awesome.”

Now, about a year later, she sings for all kinds of special occasions, from parties and corporate events, to weddings.

Most of her performances are acoustic sets, which can be customized to the occasion and preference of the client. She primarily performs country or easy listening songs, which are a perfect fit for a variety of events.

“It’s all either country or easy listening songs,” Brekyn said. “Basically, what people want when they want live music but not a full band.”

Her ability to offer a variety of different sounds and music arrangements is unique, and allows the event host flexibility in sound and budget.

“I haven’t really found anyone who has these different options,” she said. “I can perform by myself with a guitar, which is the cheapest option, or with a guitarist or even with a guitarist and a pianist. We can pretty much do any event and suit anyone’s expectations or requests.”

Brekyn loves her ability to make events special, by singing requested songs and performing the soundtrack for an event’s most important moments—like the first dance of a wedding.

“It’s super fun, and being able to sing the first dance songs and all the requested songs is amazing,” she said.
