The Las Sendas Golf Club hosted a successful community appreciation event last month, with more than 500 residents attending.
“We thought we would come out and meet people,” said Brent Hoskinson, a golfer who lives in Sonoran Heights. He was there with his young children, who were thoroughly enjoying the bounce house and other rides. “I play regularly at Las Sendas,” he commented. “We actually choose to play this course… it’s always nice to play close to home.”
The Community Appreciation Event, hosted by the Las Sendas Golf Club, on Sunday, Aug. 23, was meant to introduce residents to the club and restaurants right in their backyard.
Family fun time was superbly showcased, including BBQ burgers and hot dogs, ice cream, popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy. Raffle prizes, corn hole games, a bounce house and slides were also included.
Adults enjoyed complimentary wine and cheese, as well as introductions to the golf instructors and owners of Las Sendas Golf Club.
“We wanted to say a special thank you to all of our residents for your support,” said Lloyd McBean, executive director of Las Sendas Golf Club. “We hosted this event so those not familiar with our services could come and experience our award-winning golf course (2014 Top 25 Golf Courses in Arizona, by Golf Advisor, and 2015 Highest Ranked Golf Course for the Phoenix East Valley, by GolfNow), our amazing Vistas Pavilion, our golf shop, our golf academy and our restaurants (2015 Top 100 Al Fresco Restaurants in America, by Open Table).
“Las Sendas is no longer just a golf course,” Lloyd continued. “Instead, it has evolved into a world-class venue offering golf, learning, retail, restaurants and banquet services to the community of Las Sendas and beyond. The success of Las Sendas Golf Club is attributed directly to a rich and engaging relationship with our local residents.”
Las Sendas resident Tracy Miller and her son Brody, a first-grader, were having a blast at the event. “It’s fun… a little hot. My boys love it,” Tracy said. “My husband played golf.” The Las Sendas Golf Club offered complimentary golf to residents for the community event.
“I love it up here,” Tracy said. “We can see across town, amazing views.” She added, “The restaurant is really good, too.”
Destinee, a hostess who works at The Grille at Las Sendas, agreed with Tracy. “A little windy, but lots of people showed up. This is a great way to advertise our community.” She was sure the annual event was a success. “This is great. We are really close,” she said, in reference to Las Sendas residents.
“We were delighted to meet so many new faces and to say hello to many of our regular guests,” said Tannis McBean, marketing director at Las Sendas Golf Club.
Bill Deiter, a Las Sendas resident, said his daughter, age 9, came up to play nine holes of golf. “My daughter took lessons last spring,” he revealed. He and Jessica played the father and daughter tournament last May. “We came in second,” he stated.
Bill and Jessica were very happy. “I think, over the years, our community has gotten quite better,” Bill said. “These events help you notice Las Sendas is unique, a great place to live.”
