If you are looking for stylish, fun elegance for your feet, Dana and Tizzi Chapin have the answer, specifically, Tizzi’s interchangeable flip-flops.
“I just wanted comfortable and stylish flip-flops that would last,” said Tizzi. She was fussy about what she wore. So, her mom would decorate flip-flops for her and her friends. This creativity eventually extended to wedding parties. Ultimately, Tizzi Inc. was born.
Along with attending sixth grade at Las Sendas Elementary School, Tizzi is involved in all aspects of the business. This young entrepreneur designs charms, attends sourcing shows and takes notes for her mom. She has a voice in pricing, styles and color choices, as well as creating the logo, consisting of three hearts, which represents the three siblings.
“Tizzi’s charm designs are popular with her age group,” said her mother. “The voice of a 12-year-old is influential. Tizzi notices detail, and has an artistic eye.”
Knowing the challenge of standing on her feet all day as a hair stylist, in the family-owned salon, Cosmos Salon and Day Spa, Dana wanted to make sure Tizzi’s flip-flops were comfortable, along with being fashionable. To achieve this goal, the entire family was involved in trying on all types of samples, and making sure they met the challenge of being comfy. High quality and cute also were important prerequisites.
“I never thought selling flip-flops would be such a thing, but it has been a whole new learning experience,” said Dana. “It is fun to see it all come together.” Affordable, stylish and darling, these flip-flops are a must for your closet and your feet. Customers can choose from three styles, a low heel, mid-heel and higher heel, in white, black or tan.
The best part is you can accessorize any outfit with these flip-flops, because the charms are interchangeable. Diverse charm designs, in all colors, from sparkly to not, will meet any whim, or complement any outfit.
Oftentimes, when the family is out and about, they see their shoes on someone’s feet. “We just kind of giggle to ourselves, and really can’t believe it,” admitted Dana.
Each family member has a different, yet, meaningful role in the business. Trinity, the 5-year-old, is a fashionista, and Tayge, the 8-year-old son, has input with ideas for boys. Mastering this type of business takes time and knowledge.
Learning about manufacturing, patents, molds, international shipping, tradeshows, and pricing presented a new arena for learning. To help with that learning curve, Dana attended Daymond John’s Academy on Business Ownership. “It was a fantastic class,” stated Dana, “and taught us valuable things to make our business grow.”
As they expand, opportunities are presenting themselves, with everything from licensing, to being a special vendor at Costco. Another option being considered is bringing their product to major retailers.
If looking for a Mother’s Day gift or fashionable flip-flops to welcome summer, there is no better way to make your feet sparkle than with a pair of interchangeable flip-flops from Tizzi Inc.
