Las Sendas Centennial History Project is off to an enthusiastic start.
Led by community resident Janet Patrick, eight committee members met over the summer to share their time and interest in creating a 100-year history of Las Sendas. The goal is to present a published book, as well as a multimedia presentation of the history of Las Sendas, by November 2012.
Monthly working meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Trailhead Members Club. Fall meetings are Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. No experience is necessary to help with the project.
Join one of three volunteer teams developing a history of Las Sendas:
Group I: 1900—1959
Group II: 1960—Present Day
Group III: Helping create a video montage of Las Sendas today
“We are calling on all of the community to contact us to loan their photographs—whether historic or showing the vitality of our community,” Janet explained enthusiastically. “We want pictures of hiking, biking, hobbies, picnics, golf and artists—all the activities that make living in Las Sendas so wonderful.”
All originals will be returned. Those donated or loaned photographs selected for use will be credited to their photographer.
The Mesa Historical Society is a collaborative partner, and the project has received great interest by the state.
