This year, more than 54,000 people in the U.S. alone will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer, which includes mouth, tongue, and throat cancer.
In partnership with the Arizona Dental Association Cares Foundation (AzDA Cares), the Arizona Oral Cancer Walk committee and volunteers from around the State of Arizona will strive to save lives and reduce these alarming statistics by providing free oral cancer screenings and education.
The free event at the 13th annual Arizona Oral Cancer Walk will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 7 a.m. This event is a great opportunity to bring together members of the community with local businesses. In addition to the screenings, walkers will receive an all-day pass to the Phoenix Zoo, plus be eligible for raffle prizes, enjoy music, hear inspiring speakers, meet great local health organizations, enjoy free snacks, and so much more! This event raises awareness and early detection of the fastest growing cancer today: head and neck cancer. We provide participants with information about risk factors, signs and symptoms, and treatments of this devastating disease.
Our goal is to send the critically important message of early detection and prevention not only to the general public, but also to health care providers who are the frontline specialists in screening for and detecting this disease at its earliest and potentially most curable stages.
If you are a company or know a company who might be interested, we invite you to become a sponsor of this event, providing much-needed financial support necessary to make this event a success and assist the foundation in its current initiatives.
The funds raised at this event will enable us to raise awareness of a disease that kills one person every hour of every day, many of whom are young, non-smoking adults. In 2023, the Arizona Oral Cancer Walk raised more than $20,000 for this cause. Please help us surpass this achievement in 2024!
