Wellness and prevention have always been the focus of chiropractor Dr. David Reed.
“I grew up in a family of pharmacists,” he related, “and even as a child, I saw how many people waited until they were sick or in pain to get help, by taking a pill or a remedy, rather than trying to prevent disease or injury-related problems.”
According to David, health is not just the absence of disease. “Even if you are not sick or in pain, it doesn’t mean you are healthy,” David said. “Our wellness plans incorporate all five components of our Fundamentals of Health Program, which are chiropractic care, nutrition, emotional health, rest and exercise. It is your life. Live it in health.”
David has been practicing in his Tempe office, near Baseline Road and Mill Avenue, for the last 12 years. A Las Sendas resident, he decided to open a satellite office in his own neighborhood. The office is located at 6025 E. McKellips Road, on the southeast corner of Recker Road, behind the Circle K.
David refers to himself as a traditional, ‘hands-on’ chiropractor. Before attending Life Chiropractic College West in California, he had already had extensive experience in evaluating and treating sports injuries. He studied exercise physiology and worked as an athletic trainer at the University of Arizona. He also trained with Dr. Nick Athens, team chiropractor for the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants.
Because of his background as an athletic trainer, David feels he is especially able to care for those with sports injuries, as well as repetitive work injuries and auto accident victims. Injuries and trauma often cause pain, forcing us to become less active. As we become less active, we compound the problems. “Chiropractic adjustment can alleviate pain,” David said, “enabling us to do more.”
Whether you have a pulled muscle, torn rotator cuff or tendonitis, David works to get you back to your activities as fast as possible. Reed Chiropractic also has a studio personal trainer, who is available by appointment. Trainer Kelli Bond will set up personal exercise programs.
“Subluxations or misalignments of the spine, often start at birth, David said. “Spinal problems left uncorrected can lead to a host of medical conditions, including a lifetime of pain and premature degeneration. Everyone, from newborns to the elderly, should have their spine and nervous system checked,” he continued. “It is never too late for chiropractic care, but the sooner you start, the better your results. It is much easier to stay well than to get well.”
He urges everyone to get checked before they develop pain and other symptoms, as this is how chiropractic works best.
“We believe in high quality chiropractic care at affordable fees,” David explained. “Our fees are comparable to insurance company co-pays, and we also offer total care packages at a discount that can be paid on a monthly basis. Good care doesn’t need to cost a lot.”
