Assistance for Placer Bonito
The golf challenge will help Placer Bonito, a small, extremely poor community in the Dominican Republic, by providing support for Child-Focused Community Transformation, a partnership with Food for the Hungry. The ultimate objective is to create sustainable and reproductive projects and activities for the community, which will have a long-term impact on this rural community’s health.
Projects include physical health in the form of overall health, sanitation and hygiene training; and medical, dental, vision and veterinary clinics. In terms of the community’s social health, there would be funding for providing school supplies, organizing youth sports programs and building a community center.
The spiritual health of Placer Bonito will involve local church outreach and Christian education for community youth. Economically, the objective is to organize a local farmers association and offer assistance in the development of a coffee and vegetable enterprise. Additional agriculture commodities indigenous to the area will be developed.
