Colonoscopy – What to Expect
A colonoscopy is a procedure used to see inside the colon and rectum. The procedure can detect abnormal growths, and can look for early signs of colon cancer. It is recommended people should begin routine colonoscopies at age 50, according to guidelines published by the American Cancer Society. Join Ahmed Shalabi, MD, colorectal surgeon on the medical staff at Mountain Vista, as he discusses how to prepare for the procedure, how it is performed, and the importance of colon cancer screenings.
