The winner of Flancer’s Fifth Annual Dessert Baking Contest is Jesse Kolman.
Jesse won for his Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie, a multi-layered creation in a crumb crust with a creamy peanut butter bottom layer and a chocolate pudding-like top layer, decorated with chocolate-covered mini pretzels and dark chocolate swirls.
Each year, the winner of the Flancer’s Dessert Baking Contest has the honor of having monies from the sale of the dessert at the restaurant donated to a favorite charity. “Jesse’s charity is No Kid Hungry,” said owner Jeff Flancer. “So, starting on Nov. 1, and running for a year, $1.50 from each dessert sold from Flancer’s Incredible Sandwiches and Pizzeria stores, in both Mesa and Gilbert, will be donated to No Kid Hungry. Diners get to enjoy a fantastic dessert, as well as support a worthy cause.”
Jesse also receives a trophy and a $100 gift certificate from Flancer’s.
This year’s runners-up were Bev Shimamoto, for her Lemon Bars; and Kelly Anderson, with her Dianne’s Southern Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie.
“Rockin’ taste buds since 2000, Flancer’s is a family-friendly restaurant, providing unique food on freshly baked bread by a staff that gets to know the customers by sight,” said Jeff. “And now there’s a new dessert to try.”
