Aloha from the Salt River. Throw on your grass skirt, grab your beachcomber straw hat, and join Salt River Tubing and Recreation, featuring its fun-filled Hawaiian Mega Hula event on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Salt River Tubing’s Hawaiian luau adventure offers a cool and refreshing experience in the great outdoors. Everyone will be greeted with free leis, hula honey line dancers and hula hoop contests, complete with limbo music pulsating on our beach. Salt River Tubing will be awarding free tube rental passes and limited edition Hawaiian Mega Hula T-shirts for the best Hawaiian tuber costumes. Passes are valid on your return visit. Hawaiian barges will transport guests to the Lower Salt River for fun in the sun on the 68-degree mountain-stream rocking rapids.
“Our Hawaiian Mega Hula event was a huge success last year, and our guests raved about their luau adventure on the Salt River,” said Salt River Tubing President and CEO Henri Breault. “The event is an attention-grabber for teens and families, and encourages them to venture into the great outdoors. June is a perfect time to enjoy a floating picnic on the Lower Salt River,” Henri continued. “Our company is excited about creating a Hawaiian atmosphere for a unique voyage.”
The Hawaiian Mega Hula event, co-sponsored by 98 KUPD Radio and Salt River Tubing, is aligned with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service’s More Kids in the Woods commitment to meeting the challenge of reduced youth involvement in outdoor activities. The program expressly was designed to encourage efforts to get kids and teens outdoors in their national forests.
The cost of tube rental and shuttle bus service all day is $17 per person/tube, which includes sales tax.
Children must be 8 years old or older and at least 4 feet tall for tube rental and shuttle bus service.
Glass containers are prohibited by law in the Lower Salt River Recreational Area and will be confiscated. Ice chests and coolers will be inspected for glass containers before boarding shuttle buses. Have a great time on the Lower Salt River by responsibly appointing a designated driver before beginning your tubing adventure. Drugs, alcohol and the Salt River do not mix. Therefore, play it safe, and just don’t do it. Salt River Tubing operates in Tonto National Forest under permit of the USDA Forest Service.
Salt River Tubing is located just seven minutes from Highway 202 East, on Power Road.
