Living Word Bible Church, located at 3520 E. Brown Road, is coordinating the 2011 Extraordinary Women’s Conference, scheduled for April 7 through 9.
Developed specifically for women, the event is open to the public, according to Shelly Johnson, administrative assistant. A special online registration fee of $29, or $44, which includes brunch on Saturday, is available at www.extraordinaryconf.com. Same-day registration is at 5 p.m. on April 7, along with the opportunity for all participants to check-in. A fashion show begins at 6 p.m. Opening speaker is Dr. Maureen Anderson, co-pastor of the church. A Dancing-with-the-Stars-style contest follows.
Although the conference, sponsored by the non-denominational Christian church, will offer faith-based services and speakers, there also will be entertainment and a boutique with local vendors. In addition, fun topics, such as non-surgical facelift alternatives and fashion, will be part of the event.
Sandra Barbetta, co-owner of Cosmos Salon and Day Spa, her daughter, Terese, and other Cosmos team stylists will be creating hairdos and makeup for church members and friends who will be modeling new fashions from Chico’s, Dress Barn and Rue21. “We chose models from all sizes and age groups, so there will be something for everyone,” said volunteer show coordinator and former model Charlotte Neil.
Giving back to the community is a high priority for Sandra and Cosmo Barbetta and their staff at Cosmos Salon and Day Spa, “We always want to do whatever we can to help women,” Sandra said, “and the theme of the event, Moving On Up, is a positive message.”
“Our mission is to give women a sense of value,” stated Charlotte. “Mostly, we want to reach out to the community
