While summertime temperatures haven’t dropped, Love of Christ Lutheran Church (LOC) in east Mesa is looking to a full fall schedule of programming to serve the community, ranging from helping starving children to philharmonic concerts.
“When school returns, it starts getting busy here at our church,” said Senior Pastor Don Liles. “This is the eighth year we will have participated in packaging meals for the international program Feed My Starving Children. This is open to the community. Anyone who would like to volunteer to package meals should register on our church website. We prepare the packets in mid-November.”
In addition to helping hungry children, the church will be holding a musical special for the Christmas season. “Hard to believe that we think about Christmas now, but we are looking for those who have a great voice to sing with us in our mass choir for the Christmas Cantata,” said Pastor Don.
Another very popular event is the craft fair, to be held this year on Nov. 15. In years past, more than 40 vendors have participated in displaying their wares. “Here again, while the program date is much later, we are looking for anyone as a vendor who would like to participate. They should get in touch with Dianne Oien now in our church office,” said Pastor Don. “Our doors are open to everyone who would care to participate. It is a wide-open invitation.”
