David Mamet once wrote, “Stress cannot exist in the presence of a pie.”
When you walk through the doors of PIEfection, located at Power and Brown roads, stress can melt away as the tantalizing scents of cinnamon and spice envelop you in the warmth and comfort of fond memories.
PIEfection offers a pie for every taste, ranging from the sweet to the savory. And best of all, each is made from scratch, from time-tested family recipes.
“We take our pie seriously,” said Cheryl Standage, the pie bakery’s owner. “We make every pie here in our kitchen, using only the finest ingredients.”
It’s an effort getting nods from all corners. Not only was PIEfection voted Mesa’s Best Bakery this year, but it also has been nominated for Best Bakery by Phoenix New Times.
As a local business, PIEfection focuses on playing an active role in the Northeast Mesa community. The bakery works with local schools, sports teams and organizations on fund-raising events.
“Being able to help our schools is a real privilege,” said Cheryl.
The local involvement doesn’t stop with fund-raisers. In fact, PIEfection frequently asks customers to help select the bakery’s Pie of the Month. For October, the contest offers choices of salted caramel cream pie; pumpkin cream pie, topped with pralines; or the delectable caramel apple, featuring homemade caramel.
With Thanksgiving fast approaching, PIEfection expects to exceed the more than 3,000 pies they made last year. Customers who want to have PIEfection make dessert this Thanksgiving can choose from more than 50 varieties. The selection includes seasonal favorites, such as pumpkin and southern pecan, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin cream, pumpkin sour cream, caramel apple and the Kentucky Derby, which is a pecan pie with a layer of chocolate. The deadline to order Thanksgiving pies is Nov. 21.
PIEfecton offers an easy family meal option, as well. You can choose one of their five different savory pies, such as chicken pot pie or Italian beef and rolls for an instant dinner truly beyond delicious. Coming in January, customers will have a chance to participate in another contest surrounding PIEfection’s savory pies.
