A round of golf, dinner, silent auction and live entertainment is a great way to spend an evening, especially knowing it is supporting a great cause.
Mark your calendar for The 2011 Ride for Semper Fi Benefit Golf Tournament, Dinner and Silent Auction, which will take place in late September to raise funds for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
The second annual golf tournament, dinner and silent auction will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Las Sendas Golf Club. The golf tournament is already sold out, but several sponsorship opportunities are still available to showcase your company. In addition, the silent auction is still accepting donations.
Anyone choosing not to play golf is welcome to attend the silent auction. The silent auction, which also includes live entertainment, is open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. This year’s auction items include autographed sports memorabilia, 50 yard line Fiesta Bowl tickets, vacation cabins and spa packages, to name a few. “We encourage everyone in the community to check out the auction and enjoy the entertainment,” shared Golf Tournament Chairman and rider Steve Wheeler. “It supports a cause that we can all relate to, which is American heroes fighting for our country and our freedoms that we too often take for granted.”
The fourth annual Ride for Semper Fi will be held Oct. 12 through 15 in which 65 cyclists will ride 430 miles, from Scottsdale to San Diego. People can support the ride by donating online or sponsoring a rider. “These young people make a tremendous sacrifice and commitment to our country, and their lives will forever be changed by it,” shared The Ride for Semper Fi Chairman John Greenway. “We can help truly change their lives with the money we raise.” John added the fact he is particularly honored to be in the company of riders who train for months in preparation for this event and sacrifice their time by making a commitment to the event and the cause.
Each of these events, made possible with the generous support of Boeing and all the other sponsors, benefits The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. This fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
A volunteer base organizes the event. Therefore, 100 percent of all net proceeds directly benefit the fund. In the last three years, they have raised more than $500,000, and hope to raise $300,000 this year alone.
