The Las Sendas Quilt Club is hosting its annual Quilt Show on Sunday, March 18, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Trailhead Members Club, 7900 E. Eagle Crest Drive.
Now in its 13th year, this show will not disappoint. Members promise an enjoyable afternoon, complete with beautiful quilts, sweet treats and the opportunity to purchase a homemade quilt.
The charter has several objectives, one of which is to support local charities. Support is offered through the donation of quilts, pillows, pillowcases, tote bags, dog beds and stuffed animals to these charities:
- Sojourner Center (shelter for abused women and children).
- Helen’s Hope Chest (benefiting foster children).
- American Cancer Society.
- House of Refuge (transitional housing for homeless families).
- Children’s Crisis Center.
- Sunshine Acres Children’s Home.
- Ryan House (providing pediatric palliative care at no cost to families).
In addition, several members have created patriotic quilts to donate to Quilts of Valor.
A donation of $1 per person is welcome. All proceeds from the Quilt Show will benefit Sunshine Acres Children’s Home.
Quilt Show attendees will admire the beauty and artistic designs of more than 100 quilts, purses and wall hangings, while also enjoying complimentary refreshments.
In addition to the distinctive quilts and numerous charity projects, the 2018 show will feature a special display of Holiday Quilts. Members will be present and pleased to answer any questions. They also may be amenable to sales of either quilts or purses.
The Las Sendas Quilt Club meets monthly and also offers an open sew day in which members share tips/tricks and friendly advice. These meetings provide opportunities to learn, to share and to focus on charitable projects.
If you are unfamiliar with the East Valley, the Las Sendas Trailhead can be accessed from the 202 East, at the Power and Thomas roads exit (northbound). Follow the signs.
