The Mesa Art League will host its first Artisan Market on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at What’s Crackin’ Café and the Red Mountain Event Center.
Enjoy breakfast or lunch at What’s Crackin’ Café and follow the great food with a leisurely stroll to admire the many pieces of beautiful works of art on display at the café and at the event center. Both locations graciously have offered space for the Artisan Market.
Free of charge to the public, the event will showcase the works of local artists from the Mesa Art League. Artists will be on hand to discuss and sell their original artwork. Everyone viewing the artwork is encouraged to meet and greet the local artisans and ask questions about their techniques. Those in attendance also are sure to enjoy looking at art created by veterans as part of a special program offered by the Mesa Art League.
“In existence since the 1950s, the Mesa Art League currently receives funding to hold several art classes every month free of charge to all veterans,” said Susan Paige, chairperson of the art event. “Our members teach the courses, and we provide all the supplies.”
Under the umbrella of The Arizona Art Alliance, such programs for veterans began as a result of research showing that making art can help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.
What’s Crackin’ Café is located at 6663 E. McDowell Road, Suite 101, and Red Mountain Event Center is located at 6655 E. McDowell Road, Suite 112.
