The song says, “Get your motor running. Head out on the highway. Looking for adventure. And whatever comes my way…”
Now, admit it, you started singing that song in your mind some, didn’t you? Nothing like a little Steppenwolf reference to remind you that life can seem like a race at times. And the race has some great moments.
It’s fun to enjoy God’s many blessings, explore His creation, invest in friendships with the people He surrounds you with, and to engage in the ministry He calls us to together. The race can be a great blessing, but sometimes you just feel worn down and weary.
The truth is, I’m a little tired this time of year. We’ve been running hard for several months. We always enjoy a very busy fall/winter season here at Hosanna. From October through April, we have lots of winter friends in town with us. In that time, we also enjoy Reformation Day, Trunk or Treat, All Saints Day, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter Sunday, all the Easter-related activities, school celebrations of all kinds and…whew. I’m tired just remembering everything we’ve enjoyed in these last several months.
While those seasons are now past, the race is not yet over. We still have much to celebrate, people to serve, neighbors with whom to share Christ and a summertime full of fun soon to arrive.
The end of the school year brings graduations and parties. Then, we host our summer camp for kids all over the neighborhood. If you need a good summer camp, give Hosanna a call at (480) 984-1414.
There still are classes to enjoy, fellowships to enjoy, worship gatherings to enjoy and outreach events on which to partner together. This race is not over. There still is some ground to cover.
God gave us these words to inspire us onward in the race:
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith…” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Also, (Hebrews 10:24-25) says, “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
The journey is not over. And we still share this adventure of life together. Come join the adventure at Hosanna Lutheran Church, located at 9601 E. Brown Road. For more information, call (480) 984-1414.
