Red Mountain High School recently won first place in the Welding Without Borders: Welding Thunder Team Fabrication Competition, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Competing against 17 teams from across the Southwest, the Red Mountain team joined forces with the welding team from Skyline High School to win in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, or STEM, portion of the event.
Led by instructor Dan Hurst, the welding team demonstrated those amazing skills that have already established it as one of the top programs in the State of Arizona.
“What an amazing group of future welders we have,” said Dan. “I truly believe we are changing the future of students from our Career Technical Education Program here at Red Mountain.”
By taking their skills to new heights, the students not only did extremely well, but the team also made the entire Red Mountain community proud by winning this championship award.
Dan wishes to thank all those who donated to the welding fund to make the team’s trip to Las Vegas possible. “We are very lucky to have a community that supports this program,” he said.
Congratulations to the Red Mountain High School Welding Team and Dan for their outstanding achievement.
