Celebrating 60 years of service to the community, Marc Community Resources Inc. will hold its first golf tournament, at Coyote Run Golf Course, in Leisure World, on April 6.
Registration is at 10:30 a.m., and a shotgun start is set for 12:30 p.m. A reception will follow the tournament, with a great auction and raffle prizes.
There are a few available foursomes, as well as marketing opportunities via hole and banner signs. Foursomes are $400, and hole signs are $150.
Proceeds for the event will support Marc programs, including day centers for developmentally disabled individuals, employment-related services and behavioral health programs. A Mesa-based 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, Marc serves approximately 7,000 individuals a year in these programs.
Founded in 1957, Marc responded to the absence of special education programs in the public school system. For approximately 20 years, services were provided to school-aged children with developmental disabilities on a contractual basis with the school districts.
In 1976, the passage of landmark legislation provided free and public education for all children. Marc then shifted focus to infants, pre-school children and adults transitioning from the public school system.
