Mesa resident for 33 years and chiropractor Dr. Roland Phillips placed fourth in the World for Sprint Triathlon in the men’s 60- to 64-year-old division.
The best of the best from around the world gathered to compete in Cozumel, Mexico, this year. More than 169 countries are registered with the International Triathlon Union (headquartered in Canada), which governs and oversees World Triathlon races.
This was Dr. Phillips’ first world competition, though he has belonged to the sport since 1985. An accomplished All-American triathlete, Dr. Phillips has garnered hundreds of first, second and third place awards over his racing career. He has the discipline, determination and drive to inspire even younger athletes, many of whom marvel that this old guy has a race time quicker than theirs.
Dr. Phillips can be seen encouraging and advising other athletes before and after each race. Whether it is a workout schedule, health, nutrition, specific equipment or racing strategy, this master triathlete and chiropractor mentors naturally.
He is an elite master trainer of the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique, or BEST, traveling worldwide teaching, coaching and advising other practitioners to increase the health of mankind worldwide. Dr. Phillips credits his success to Cheryl, his greatest cheerleader and wife of 34 years, as well as his coach, Steve Pyle.
Congratulations, Dr. Roland Phillips.
